Will Dudley led the Viking freshman team at Union with four TDs, including two consecutive 90-yard kickoff returns.
After last Friday's loss at Union, the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings begin District play this Friday by hosting Decorah. This season, the Vikes begin the first of two seasons in Class 3A, District 3. Other teams in District 3 include: Benton, South Tama, Independence, Waverly-Shell Rock, Charles City and Cedar Rapids Xavier.
While the varsity had little to celebrate in its 50-0 loss, the Viking freshman team kept close in a wild 42-30 game. Will Dudley scored four long touchdowns for the Viking frosh, including a long run from scrimmage, a punt return, and two consecutive kick-off returns at the beginning of the third quarter.

Oct. 7 (Homecoming): Independence
