Only four VS girls golfers were able to make the trip to the Tama-Toledo Country Club for the triangular against South Tama and Marion, but that was enough, as the Vikettes won the meet on Tuesday afternoon.
Coach's Report from Janet Woodhouse:
Tama-Toledo Country Club, par 35
Weather: 70s, partly cloudy
Team Scores:
Vinton-Shellsburg 199
South Tama 220
Marion 248
Co-medalists:
Rachel Tandy 47
Brandi Gerber 47
V-S Individuals:
Rachel Tandy 47
Brandi Gerber 47
Lillie Lamont 48
Abbye Hendryx 57
Due to sickness and other commitments, we had only four of our golfers participate. We were small but mighty! Freshman Abbye Hendryx had her personal best competition at a time when we really needed her score. Ms Tandy, Ms Gerber and Ms Lamont were consistent and saw their efforts rewarded with scores in the 40s. Our putting wasn't spectacular, but wasn't dreadful either. All in all, it was a good day on the golf course for V-S girls!
We host Benton Community at the Vinton Country Club this Thursday, April 26. Monday we will play at Rolling Hills Golf Course near Center Point when CP-U hosts the WaMaC Conference West golf tourney. It's a nine hole competition with a 3:00 start time. Tuesday, May 1 V-S will host Benton Community in a make up meet at Wildcat Golf Course in Shellsburg. The start time is 4:15.
