The Vinton-Shellsburg boys won easily at home, defeating Waterloo Columbus, 68-43, Friday in Vinton. The Vikings took control of the game early, leading at the end of the first quarter, 19-9.

The Viketttes, however, had a tough time, falling behing by 10 in the first half, en route to losing to the Sailors in the final minute, 48-46.

Logan Williams led the Vikings with in 18 points. Brody Beatty and Jake Dyson each scored 15. Dyson scored all of his points on long shots, hitting five three-pointers.

Girls' game

The Vikettes trailed by 11 at the half, 27-16, but closed the gap to 1 point by the end of the third quarter. They led with a minute left, but two turnovers gave the Sailors enough opportunities to win the game.
