On Tuesday Feb. 15, Vinton-Shellsburg 2011 graduate and 2010 first-team All-District lineman Troy Hallberg attended a the Signing Day celebration for the football program at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant.

Troy, the son of Greg and Kris Hallberg of rural Vinton, was one of 16 high school football players who all signed their letters of intent. The players came from Texas, California, Alabama, Illinois, and Iowa.

Troy has received scholarships for both academics and sports. He also plans to play in the band at Iowa Wesleyan. At Vinton-Shellsburg, he has also been involved in the choir and the DanSing Corps show choir. Troy plans on majoring in athletic training and continuing on to Palmer College of Chiropractic.
