VINTON – The Vinton-Shellsburg girls’ golf team enjoyed a little home-cooking Thursday night as they rolled a 223-235 home dual-meet victory over Jesup Thursday night at the Vinton Country Club.
Consistency was the hallmark for the Vikettes, who were paced by runner-up medalist Cara Hach’s round of 55. Kelsey Mahood added a 56, Erin Randall a 57 and Hannah Looney at 58 to round out the Vikette scoring. Also in action for the Vikette varsity were Summer Stephenson and Samantha Jorgenson.
“We finished just before the rain!” said Vikette coach Janet Woodhouse. “ I was pleased the varsity improved 13 strokes from last week’s meet on the same course. Cara Hach played very well in her first varsity meet... and she is a freshman. “
The Vikette JV fired a 266, led by Emma Clingman’s round of 55.
The Vikettes are in action tonight at Tara Hills in a dual meet with Benton Community. Next Monday and Tuesday, V-S hits the road for quads; Monday at Marion and Tuesday at Oelwein.
