The 2011 VSHS Cross Country Team begins its season tonight at Mt. Vernon.

It's been a tradition for the past several years for coach John Frazier and the Vinton-Shellsburg cross country team.

Both the boys and girls gather together at the Jorgensen house for a meal the night before their first contest of the season.

The first meet is tonight, in Mount Vernon. On Monday evening, Pat and Nancy Jorgensen again hosted the annual gathering, and other parents help prepare the meal and desserts.
