Vinton-Shellsburg senior Ryan Webster, wrestling at the 160-lb level for the Vikings, pinned all five of his opponents during Saturday's meet. His successful weekend earned him a nomination for this week's Athlete of the Week honor at KCRG-TV. Voters on the TV station's web site chose Webster over two other nominees, earning Webster a place on an upcoming broadcast, as well as a unique competition against KCRG sports guy Scott Saville

Ryan accomplished all five pins in a total of 244 seconds, during the wrestling duals event Saturday, Dec. 3, at Cascade, defeating opponents from Cascade, Maquoketa, Maquoketa Valley, Dubuque Walhert and Clayton Ridge.

The TV station shares the following information on its web site:

Ryan is a 160 pound senior wrestler for the Vikings. At the Cascade meet on Saturday he wrestled five matches and pinned all of his opponents in the first period, ranging from 20 seconds to 90 seconds for each match. Webster’s record is 6-1 on the year. Vinton-Shellsburg is 2-3 so far in duals, but very shorthanded — they only have eight wrestlers on the team, while there are 14 weight classes.
