On a day not ideal for golf, the Vinton-Shellsburg boys defeated Independence by four, 175-179. Daniel Janssen led all golfers with a 40.

"While neither team played spectacular golf, I am very happy with the outcome. We haven't beaten Independence in a dual meet in a long, long time. Daniel Janssen turned in a great round, and this is Dylan Rippel's second meet in a row where he has earned a medal," said Tandy.
