Sports : Vikettes finish third at W Delaware event

The Vinton-Shellsburg girls golf team finished third at the West Delaware Invite Monday in Manchester, just four strokes from second place.

I was pleased with our rounds on a course new to our team.  This is the former Manchester Country Club, but it has had a facelift and the holes have been renumbered. Some of the holes are quite challenging.  The team hung in there and shot some good rounds.  We still want to be under 200, but we were close (201).  A positive for this team is that if one member has a bad round, someone else seems to fill the gap.  It happened Saturday and today.

Erin Randall had 16 putts and Natalie Ketchen had 17.  We were 3-2 at this meet; our overall record for this spring is 12-7.
