Sports : Vikings tie for 3rd at BCLUW; Viking, Vikette Relays this week

The Vinton-Shellsburg boys track team tied for third place in the Comet Relays at BCLUW Monday, in Conrad.

Winners for the Vikings included: Kelyn Rickels, high jump; Darren Charlier, 400 hurdles.

"We did a lot of things really well," said Coach Aric Chvala.  "We ran the guys in a lot of events that they were unfamiliar with and they performed very well.  This meet was smaller so there wasn't a lot of turn around time between events; that really tested our conditioning, and I was pleased with where we were at.  Top to bottom this was the most competative meet that we have been in this year, every race was tightly contested, it was a lot of fun."
