The Vinton-Shellburg baseball team came up short in its attempt for another come-from-behind win on Friday night.

In a varsity game against Monticello, the Vikings were down 11-8 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. They loaded the bases, but were unable to score.

The loss was just the Vikings' second of the season. They are still at 8-2 overall and still undefeated in official conference games, at the top of the WaMac West.

Sophomore Gunner Tranel made his first varsity start for the Vikings. Senior Taylor Leyden finished the game.

The Vikings play at Center Point-Urbana tonight.
