Oak 4 NCCC members work with wildlife in Spearfish, S.D.

  Oak 4 has been working at the Spirit of the Hills Wildlife Sanctuary in Spearfish, S.D. The weekend of their arrival, a wildfire ravaged over 18,000 acres of the western portion of the state of South Dakota while firefighters across the state fought tirelessly to control the blaze.

Area families receive Century Farm, Heritage Farm designations

  Benton County has four more Century Farms and two more Heritage Farms for 2012.  The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation partnered with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land and Stewardship in 1976 to start recognizing families who have owned and worked the farm for 100 years or more.

City accepting bids on old police vehicle

The City of Vinton is taking bids to sell a 2009 Chevrolet Impala (former police vehicle) with 68,655 miles. Minimum bid is $2,000. Vehicle sold “as-is” condition.
