Events and Activities : Fund-raiser for Marter family set for Saturday at Rosters

Dax Marter, the son of Eric and Lisa, is recovering from open heart surgery.

Dustin and Marv roster are hosting a CAR WASH/ BAKE SALE this Saturday, August 16 from 11 am to 2 pm at Rosters shop at 410 H Avenue in Vinton. (Near railroad tracks on west 4th street)
The benefit is for the family of Eric and Lisa Marter, whose son Dax was born with a heart defect.

“Dax is the sweetest baby,” says Dustin. “He was born to Eric and Lisa Marter on July 27, 2014. He born with a coarctation of the aorta which is a type of a congenital heart defect. On August 6 he underwent open heart surgery for an aortic arch advancement. He was recently extubated on August 10, but still has a long road of recovery. Dax remains in the cardiac PICU at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where he has been since his birth. Dax is a fighter and has touched more lives in his two weeks on earth than ever imagined.”

Several area residents and businesses have begun helping the family cover its medical bills.
