The Vinton Public Library is hosting author Linda McCann on October 9th, at 6:30 p.m. Linda will be speaking about her newest book, Prohibition in Eastern Iowa which looks at the 13 year span of time known as "Prohibition" through the lens of Eastern Iowans. From farmers who grew the corn used in making illegal liquor, to the bootleggers who trafficked it and the gangsters who sold it, Eastern Iowa saw its fair share.

The book contains interviews with regular people who were swept up in the craziness, and includes details about gun battles on two lane highways. You will be surprised to read how this period in our national history transpired in, and impacted Iowa.

Everyone is invited and there is no admission charge. Copies of all her books will be available for purchase.

Light refreshments will be served – rum balls anyone?
