Eighth Week of the 2025 Legislative Session

Senator Westrich and I met individuals this week from Iowa State University's Egg Industry Center.      With our first Senate deadline on Friday, everyone in the Senate was actively trying to complete our work on time this week. There was a variety of issues discussed, so some committees would have to take a break and come back later in the day to finish work on them. With such a busy week, we advanced legislation on many important issues.

March 4, 2025A joint meeting between the Board of Supervisors and the EMS Advisory Council met on March 4, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the EOC at the Sheriff’s Office. Supervisor Seeman, Tippett and Volz were all three in attendance. Chairman Seeman called the meeting to order.The main topic for discussion was how the funds are disbursed equally among all the First Responders and Transport Services.

Hello, Iowa House District 84 from the State Capitol!

CLS Students take advantage of a beautiful day at the top of the Capitol's Golden Dome. This last Friday was the annual end of the first funnel for bills in the Iowa Legislature. In other words, Friday was the last day for individual bills to be passed in their respective committees to be eligible for debate in either the House or Senate. There were no bills debated on the House floor to allow committees time this week to pass their bills.

State Auditor Rob Sand Releases a Report on the City of Shellsburg

Auditor of State Rob Sand today released an agreed-upon procedures report on the City of Shellsburg, Iowa, for the period July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024. The agreed-upon procedures engagement was performed pursuant to Chapter 11.6 of the Code of Iowa. Sand reported eleven findings related to the receipt and disbursement of taxpayer funds.
