Iowans Encouraged to Visit Farmers Markets, Vouchers for Low-Income Seniors
Low-income seniors and WIC recipients can use vouchers to purchase fresh, local and nutritious produce at participating vendorsAs summer kicks off, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is encouraging Iowa families to visit and support the more than 200 farmers markets located across the state. Farmers markets and farm stands provide consumers with easy access to local fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey, cut flowers, eggs, meat, cheese, craft beer, Iowa wine and many other fresh or prepared products.
Fourth Victim Succumbs to Injuries Received During Attack
The fourth victim in the attack that killed three others last Wednesday has died. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office reported that Brent Brown, 34, passed away on Friday according to the Johnson County Medical Examiner.Luke Truesdell has now been charged with a fourth count of first-degree murder. The three other victims of the attack, Romondus Cooper, Keonna Ryan and Amanda Parker had all died from their injuries in an outbuilding at the 3600 block of East Otter Road in northern Linn County.

$7.8 Million in Grants to Help Connect Iowans to Critical Services
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) today announced $7.8 million for 17 projects that will improve public transportation for people with disabilities, older adults, and low-income individuals. The grants support organizations that coordinate public transportation for underserved groups, allowing them to access healthcare, community services, education, and jobs by building partnerships among health, transportation, and human services providers.
