Recently Mark and LuAnn Urlaub took a trip to honor LuAnn’s uncle, an uncle she never met. "Mark and I wanted to learn more about my Uncle Marvin A. Kraus' service and see the places that Dad spoke of." Marvin's brother, LuAnn's father, entered the Army after Marvin's death so the two men's mother did not have an easy go of it during World War II. Benton County Primary Election Results
On Tuesday, June 4, 2024 Benton County Residents voted for their choice of candidates that will be voted on in November's Election. Of the 18,644 registered voters, only 2,439 ballots were cast, or 13.08%. For Sheriff, residents chose between the two Republican candidates Dave Upah with 1,618 votes to Ted Paxton's 529 votes with no candidates from the Democratic Party or Libertarian Party. Former Clutier City Clerk Sentenced to Nearly Two Years in Federal Prison for Stealing from the CityA woman who formerly worked as the city clerk for the City of Clutier, Iowa, and who committed wire fraud to steal from the city was sentenced today to nearly two years in federal prison.Keri Kopriva, age 44, from Elberon, Iowa, received the prison term after an October 26, 2023, guilty plea to one count of wire fraud.
