Richard "Dick" LeRoy Abernathey, 91, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care. A graveside service will take place at Bear Creek Cemetery in Vinton, Iowa, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.Dick was born May 31, 1930, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Ross and Rea Opel (Whitening) Abernathey. He was a lifelong resident of Vinton, Iowa. Dick went on to join the U.

Florence L. Lyman, 81, passed away Nov. 5, 2021, at The Bridges of Ankeny Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.Florence Lorene (Fuller) Lyman was born in Princeton, Mo., on June 30, 1940, the daughter of Robert Edward Fuller and Frances Florence (Budd) Fuller. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1958. She attended Iowa State University and graduated with a home economics degree in 1962.

Nancy Lee Stainbrook, 76, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at the Van SteenhuyseTeahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Private burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Per Nancy’s wishes, the casket will be closed to the public. Nancy was born November 5, 1944 in Vinton, IA, the daughter of Glenn and Betty (Whitson) Erickson, the eldest of four daughters.

Helen North Bruce, 100, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. A private family prayer service will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, followed by public visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Mary Jane Fisher, who would have turned 87 on November 18, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on November 3, 2021 after a sudden illness with loving family surrounding her.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at St. John's Catholic Church in Blairstown with Fr. Craig Steimel as celebrant. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown.

Steven Dale Oliver was born on December 9, 1952, in Red Oak, the son of Willard Jr. and Mary Joe (King) Oliver. Steve grew up in Elliot, Corley and Irwin, and graduated from Irwin Community Schools. He then attended Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda (where he met his lovely wife) and DMACC in Ankeny. On March 17, 1973, Steve was united in marriage to Debra Andersen in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Jerry Lynn Hanna, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Country House Residence in Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton, with Rev. Randy Kasch officiating.  Military Rites will follow the service at the church.  Private family interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.

Jennifer "Jenny" Hebert, 46, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private for the family at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Holland, Iowa.Survivors include her husband, Jason; son, Zachary; mother, Renita Bacon of Hiawatha; sisters, Rebecca Bacon of Des Moines, Iowa, and Sandra (David) Hedrick of Vinton, Iowa; mother-in-law, Nona Cummings of Marion; sister-in-law, Heather (Tim) Smith of Olin; nieces and nephews, Lucas Smith, Keegan Hebert, Olivia Hedrick, and Averi Hedrick; and her faithful companions, Bailey, Izzy and Brandy.

Richard "Dick" "Obie" Alan Oberreuter, 82, of Cedar Rapids, IA, peacefully went to be with the Lord November 1, 2021, surrounded by family.Richard was born July 10, 1939 to Aloysius and Agnes (Fitzgerald) Oberreuter in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Newhall High School in 1957. On February 27, 1960 Dick married Violet Vargason. Dick was in real estate for 36 years and farmed for 20 years near Watkins.
