Van Horne Don "Mac" McAtee, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Belle Plaine Nursing & Rehab in Belle Plaine following an extended illness. A Military Memorial Service will be 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. Friends may register from 2 p.m. until service time Saturday. Private committal services will take place.

Gordon L. West, 55, of Brandon, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at his home.   Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Brandon, Iowa, with Rev. Mark Dieter officiating.  Burial will be in Brandon Cemetery in Brandon.

GARRISON:    Merlyn Leroy Harrelson, 78, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness.      A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton, with Rev. David Gates officiating.  Private Committal Services will be held.

ATKINS:     Kristy Ann Armstrong, 57, died Saturday, January 11, 2014 at her residence of a sudden illness.      Public Graveside Services, conducted by Rev. Douglas Woltemath, will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Atkins. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 10 a.

VINTON:  Alanna Marie "Lil Al" Sackett, 13, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.      Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 13, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Center Point with Pastor David Hansen officiating.  Interment will be held at St.

SHELLSBURG:     Irene Marie Beatty, 99, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton with Pastor Mike Ferguson                officiating.

Dale L. Cantonwine, 83, of Tipton, died Sunday, January 05, 2014, in Mercy Hospital Hospice Care, Iowa City. Dale was born on October 2, 1930 on a farm in Benton County, Iowa. He was the son of Leland and Marie Moubry Cantonwine. Dale graduated from Vinton High School in 1949. On June 26, 1949 Dale was united in marriage to Patricia LaVonne Primmer in Vinton.

Chase Michael Meyer, 21, of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday December 31, 2013.  Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Thursday January 9, 2014 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Pastor B.J. Meyer.  Visitation will be from 4 PM to 7 PM Wednesday January 8th at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Chase is survived by his father, Al (Donna) Meyer of Cedar Rapids, his mother Nancy (Richard Mills) Caraballo of Cedar Rapids, two sisters; Holly Nicole Meyer and Cecillia Jo Meyer of Cedar Rapids and a brother Maxx Stone Meyer, Grandparents; Dick and Dixie Fowler, grandmother Alice Meyer, and many aunts, uncles and cousins   He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard Meyer.

Michael Hansen, 73, of Dysart, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2013 from 3 to 7 PM and for an hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in Dysart Cemetery. Overton Funeral Home in Dysart is handling arrangements.

Lois E. Carman, 95, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, with chaplain Joseph T. Kane of Mercy Hospice officiating. Interment will be held at the Urbana Cemetery in Urbana.
