Surrounded by her loving family, Dixie Lou Wayson, 91, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, at the Presbyterian Church of Vinton, with Pastor Hans Poetschner officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Karla Jean Bascom, 66, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Newhall, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 4, 2025. Funeral services will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Newhall at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 11, 2025, with Rev. Nick Palmer officiating. Friends and family may visit with the family before the service from 9:30 until 10:15 AM, also at the church.

Larry Francis Frese, 84, of Chelsea, IA passed away July 5, 2025 at his home in Chelsea, IA surrounded by family. Larry was born February, 7, 1941 in Thorp, WI to Emmet and Esther (Jacque) Frese. After graduating from Thorp High School, Larry went out west to Oregon and Alaska for various jobs before enlisting in the U. S. Army. Achieving his Green Beret status as a member of the Special Forces, Larry served during Vietnam.
Kenneth Earl Struve, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025 at the Virginia Gay Hospital Nursing & Rehab in Vinton from complications of melanoma cancer. Family and friends may call from 9:00-11:30am at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton on Saturday, July 12th. Memorial services will be held afterwards at 11:30, also at the Wesley United Methodist Church with a luncheon to follow.

Beverly Joan Lynch, 91, formerly of Vinton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
David Richard Primus passed from this life early in the morning on June 29, 2025. He was preceded in death by parents, Lorenz and Hazel Lockhart Primus. Dave is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Rebecca, brother John (sister-in-law Helen), daughters April and Erin, sons-in-law Kevin and Reed, grandchildren George, Tess (Jake), Samuel, Adam, Sean (Britney), Annebeth, Jackson, Abigail, Aspen, and Wren, and great-grandchildren, Soren, Macklin, Trey, and Cleo Rose.

Donald “Duece” E. Walton, 86, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away June 26, 2025.Don was born October 4, 1938 in rural Belle Plaine, the son of George and Helen (Kapucian) Walton. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1956. Following school, he started work as a meat cutter in the Foodland Grocery Store on Main Street in Belle Plaine. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1961 and served two years and returned home to resume work at the grocery store.

Following a lengthy illness, Todd Vincent Pattee, 53, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at his residence in Keystone. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 12th from 1 pm to 4 pm at Turner Hall in Keystone Iowa. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton, is caring for Todd and his family.Todd was born June 22, 1971, in Waterloo, the son of Richard and DeAnn (Kashmark) Pattee.

Mary Colleen Woeste, 86, was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on September 4, 1938, the daughter of Francis B. Teneyck and Gladys (Blank) Teneyck. She went home to Vinton, Iowa, ten days later, where she would reside until graduating from Iowa Braille & Sight Saving School in 1956. While attending school, she loved English and music class. She looked forward to the yearly track meet in Minnesota, and participated in the broad jump, the basketball throw (which she held the record for many years), and the fifty- and sixty-yard dash.
SHIRLEY ANN (DRIPPS) REEVES , 89, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away June 22, 2025. She was born February 9, 1936 in Urbana, Iowa daughter of the Willis and Florence Dripps, and married Joseph F. Reeves of Coggon, Iowa on June 20, 1959. She was a school teacher in Iowa, a military spouse, a volunteer coordinator at BETA Center in Orlando, and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
