MARION – Rodney Dean Clemens, 49, died Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City due to health complications.
A celebration of Rod’s life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Private family inurnment will be held at the Dumont Cemetery, Dumont, Iowa. Gene Lewis
CENTRAL CITY: On September 16, 2013 Gene William Lewis, beloved husband of Sherry, lost his brave fight with cancer. Gene was born to Merton Chandle Lewis and Norma Emmeline Brewer Lewis of Central City on November 9, 1951.

BRANDON – Beverly Ann “Bev” Albert, 77, of Brandon, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.

Waterloo - Marjorie Amy Smalley, 82, of Waterloo, died Thursday, September 5 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.
She was born February 8, 1931 in Vinton, daughter of Leon and Ruth Avery Byam. She married Richard Smalley May 3, 1951 in Vinton. He died October 13, 1990.
Marjorie was employed as a telephone operator in Vinton and then worked at home taking in laundry and ironing as she raised her children. Joanne A. Sagan
VINTON – Joanne Adelaide Sagan, 78, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.

Rhonda Sue Skoog, 61, of Marion, formerly of Keystone, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at her home in Marion following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone, with the Rev. B. Andrew Wright officiating. Interment will be held at Keystone Cemetery.
