NEWHALL – Karl Burland Swanson, 93, of Traer, formerly of Newhall, died peacefully on April 5, 2011, at his granddaughter’s home in Traer where he had been residing the past 4 years.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, with Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.
Hilda Ann Stainbrook, 97, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vinton. with the Rev. Clarke E. Frederick officiating. Interment will be held at the Brandon Cemetery in Brandon. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.
Jim Narber of Urbandale, Iowa, passed away following a battle with cancer on Thursday, March 31, 2011. Jim was born June 21, 1922, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Nira (Primmer) and William Bateman Narber. Raised by a single mother in the throes of the Great Depression, Jim learned early the importance of an education, and the value of hard work and a job.
Reverend Robert Phillips Britt, Iowa,formerly of Vinton.
The Rev. Robert P. Phillips, 101, of Britt died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Britt. He was born September 17, 1909, the 8th child of W.E. Phillips and Mary (Shroyer) Phillips of New Sharon, Iowa. He graduated from New Sharon High School with the class of 1927 and received his undergraduate degree from William Penn in Oskaloosa in 1939.
VINTON: Paul H. Smith, 79 of Vinton died Friday, April 1, 2011 at Virginia Gay Hospital following a brief illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Ardel Barta as Celebrant. Private family committal services will be held at Mound Cemetery near Watkins.

Vinton—Robert Bush, age 82, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at his home while he was burning off his garden.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Prairie Creek Christian Church, rural Vinton, with Pastor Dennis Sackett officiating. Interment 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, IA, with Flag Presentation by the Iowa Military Funeral Honors Guard.
