The City of Vinton is currently seeking qualified individuals to apply for the position of Parks and Recreation Director.This management-level role requires a dynamic leader to oversee the planning, organization, and direction of the city’s parks and recreation programs. The Director will be responsible for preparing the department’s annual budget, managing both full-time and part-time staff, and working collaboratively with boards and commissions.

There were 16 different acts with 18 members participating. “It was really enjoyable to see everyone show off their unique talents and have fun while doing it,” said Leif Allen. Sophia Newton and Will McKenna placed 1st with stand up comedy, Braedon Hepker placed 2nd with impressions, and Leif Allen placed 3rd with a singing act.

Benton County Fairboard & Benton County Pork Producers introduce individuals with disabilities to animal agriculture with Bacon Buddies® programThe Benton County Pork Producers are working to give local individuals with disabilities the opportunity to show a pig at the Benton County Fair. The Bacon Buddies® program, developed by the Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA), helps those Special Olympians experience acceptance by working with 4-H and FFA mentors.

Dear Vinton Today Readers,Rarely will you find me with a trembling chin and tears in my eyes...at the post office. But that's where I was this week. I had made my trip to the post office and was amazed by the number of letters filling my box. Thank you to all of you who mailed in a check to help rebuild the new website. The many donations and notes touch my heart, and I could never thank you enough.

A week ago, Vinton Today had an S.O.S. call come in from the 4th St. Diner. The Diner is where our senior citizens meet for a noontime meal and some fellowship, or if needed the Diner provides meals to those who can't leave the house. We put out an urgent request for an upright freezer because the one in the kitchen had just died. The request was originally just for an used one that worked to help fill the gap.

Even though Mt. Auburn doesn't have a Legion Post in town any longer, that didn't dampen desire of the residents of the small town to remember the fallen. The Gingrich family accepted the challenge to have a service for families in the area to gather on Memorial Day..
