Vinton—Steve “Bud” De Witt, age 42, died peacefully Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton with Rev. Dan Hoeger officiating. Visitation from 4-8 pm Monday, October 25, 2010 at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home.

Dorothy Helms, R.N. VINTON -- Dorothy Jean "Dot" Helms, 79, of Vinton, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 16, 2010, at her home in Vinton. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Blessed Hope Church in Vinton with Pastor Jim Blair officiating. Memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, also at Blessed Hope Church.

John Waalk

John H. Waalk John H. Waalk, Sr., 93, formerly of Garrison, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines following an brief illness. Private Committal Services will be held at the Garrison Cemetery. John was born August 5, 1917 near Monona to Guy A. and Mabel Frances (Fredrica) Waalk. John served his nation in the US Army. John lived in Garrison many years until moving to Des Moines in 1992.

Anne Eleanor Henderson Thompson

VINTON:  Anne Eleanor Henderson Thompson, 93, of Vinton died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010 at the Vinton Lutheran Home.  A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Clarke E. Frederick officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.  Private family Interment services will be at Big Grove Cemetery.

McVey, 98, died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness.      A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton with Rev. Kären Larson officiating.  Private Committal Services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.

Alvin 'Bud' Schild

Bud Schild BELLE PLAINE – Alvin “Bud” Schild, 88, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Northbrook Manor Care in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. Bud’s family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Oct. 11, at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. Public graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Keystone Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Merkel-Bockholt American Legion Post 107 of Keystone.

Lincoln Michael Jacobs

Lincoln Michael Jacobs KEYSTONE:      Infant Lincoln Michael Jacobs, 6 month old son of Shane and Nicole "Nikki" Jacobs died as a result of an auto accident on October 8, 2010.      Lincoln was born April 9, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.      Baby Lincoln is survived by his parents and his four year old sister, Kailyn Jacobs, all of Keystone.

Clyde H. St. Clair

Clyde Hill St. Clair VINTON:       Clyde Hill St. Clair was born to Glenn M. and Jesse Lucille (Hill) St. Clair in Vinton, Iowa on January 27, 1918.  He was a life long resident of Vinton with the exception of years he spent attending Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa and proudly serving his country as a decoder in Air Corps during WWII.
