The Benton County Bruce Boosters represented by Olivia HansonOlivia Hansen of the Benton County Bruce Boosters, won a Red Ribbon for her Special Gift entry of a wooden box and black cloth with 5 pieces of jewelry. Paul Herger of the Jackson Better Farmers won a Blue Ribbon for his entry of his Wave Pot, a blue and white pottery bowl. Jenna Grover won a Blue Ribbon as part of the North Eden Willing Workers for her Stained Glass Jewelry Box with pink decoupage.

Gifts honor Easton Lindeman's memory at U of I Stead Family Children's Hospital

Hunter Lindeman holds a heart with the name of his brother Easton on it in front of the gifts that went to the Children's Hospital in honor of Easton After the loss of her son three-year-old Easton, Samantha Lindeman decided that each year, on Easton's birthday, the family would do something to honor him. The family has collected donations and made a delivery to the 11th floor of the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. Bringing with them all kinds of gifts for the children there.

Mt. Auburn girl named as Grand Champion Showman

Emma Wayson of Mt. Auburn wins Grand Champion Showman with her steer Junior Emma Wayson of Mt. Auburn entered in the Junior division was named the Grand Champion Showman at the Governor's Charity Steer Show last Saturday. She showed her steer Junior. Her celebrity was the Iowa Secretary of State Mike Naig. She was sponsored by Benton County Cattlemen and other local supporters.In her entry she said:My name is Emma Wayson from Mount Auburn, Iowa.

"Trump! Thank You!"A Benton County family was able to spot and call out to Former President Trump while at the Iowa State Fair this week.  Standing behind a row of State Troopers, the mother shouted, "Trump! Thank you!" The trooper in front of her quickly said, "You didn't have to say anything!" In the video you can hear the local mom being surprised that President Trump heard her.

They designed magnetic bookmarks that are cute and functional and encourage reading at the Iowa State Fair. Ag & Natural Resources and ConservationAndy Holthaus a member of Polk 101 4-H, entered under Ag & Natural Resources and Conservation, Environment, and Sustainability, He received a blue ribbon for his 4' x 4' x 1' Farm Display.

Electric Pole hit along C Ave.

Vinton's electric crew has been working at the corner of C Ave. and 10th St. to replace a pole that had been hit. The pole was tilted just enough that crews saw a need to reset a new pole in the ground to correct the issues.Hats off to our guys who work on the ground and adjust the high voltage wires when we get them out of whack.  Tom Bodett has nothing on these guys.

Construction begins for new business along K Ave. and remodeling for another

For months the city has been anticipating the arrival of a new business. Located on the corner of K Ave. and West 9th St. (the former Braille School Property along Hwy. 218) Construction is now underway for the anticipated arrival of a new business in town. The property has been purchased by the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree company. A competition date has not been announced as of yet.
