Melvin Lee 'Bud' Koehn, 78, Vinton

  Melvin Lee "Bud" Koehn, 78, of Vinton, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha due to complications of ALS. A memorial service will take place at a later date.  Honoring Bud's wishes, his body will be cremated. Bud was born March 17, 1932, in Okeene, Oklahoma, the son of Eli and Susanna Theissen Koehn.

  Dean A. Albert, 74, of Brandon, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton following a short illness.   Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Brandon United Methodist Church in Brandon with Pastor Collette Gould officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, April 16, from 4 to 8 p.

Vivian Coburn Edwards, 93, Vinton

  Vivian Coburn Edwards, 93, of Vinton, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton due to complications of a stroke.    A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton with Pastor Karen Larson officiating. Per Vivian’s wishes, her body has been cremated.

Kenneth Doyle Rosenbalm

VINTON:  Harry LeRoy Taylor, 103 died April 1, 2010 at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vinton of complications of age.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Church of Christ in Brandon with Rev. Bill Kelly officiating.  Funeral Services were held in Oakdale, California earlier this month.

Charles C. Desaulniers, 63, died April 4, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone, where friends may register from noon until 1 p.m.  Charles was born Feb. 25, 1947, in Baltimore, Md., to Conrad and Nina (Seaman) Desaulniers.

William 'Bill' Harrison

Robert K. Steffa (1919-2010)

Robert K. Steffa  WATERLOO - Robert K. Steffa, 90, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, March 23, at Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village from health complication. He was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Gladbrook, son of Amon and Marie Schmoldt Steffa. He married Dorothy Weber on Dec. 4, 1940. She died Feb. 25, 2007. Mr. Steffa earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell College and received his master's degree in chemistry at Emory University.
