Wolf Creek Knights Rugby finishes regular season 12-0

The Wolf Creek Knights finished the regular season 12-0 with wins over Winterset 28-14, and Boone 35-0. 8th grade girls win Wamac West track meet; 7th graders 3rd

Vinton-Shellsburg hosted the Middle School girls Wamac West track meet on Friday in Vinton. The 8th graders won big, with 131 team points; Benton Community was 2nd with 95. In the 7th grade meet, VS was third, with 80 points. Clear Creek-Amana won with 136 total points All of the VS winners on Friday were 8th graders. Vikettes set two school records; VS finishes 10th at Wamac

Lily & Grace Horst, Annika Schmidt and Bristi Gerber set school records at the Wamac meet. Led by a 2nd place finish by its 4 x 800M relay team, the Vinton-Shellsburg girls track team finished in 10th place at the Wamac Super Meet in Tiffin on Thursday.  The 4 X 800 team of Lily Horst, Grace Horst, Annika Schmidt and Bristi Gerber set a new VS school record with a time of 9:45.11. Freshman Grace Horst also set a new VS record for the 1500M run with a time of 5:01.

Wamac Champs! Viking boys win conference meet

Viking track team members celebrate with the Wamac Super Meet Trophy. The Vinton-Shellsburg boys track team won first place in Thursday's Wamac Conference Super Meet hosted by Clear Creek-Amana at Tiffin. The Vikings scored 99 team points; Mount Vernon was second with 95. V-S won two events. Tyler Bartz was first in the long jump (21 feet, 6 inches) and the 4 x 400 relay team (Nick Hyland, Tyler Bartz, Blake Bohnsack, Joel Barnes) finished first with a time of 3:24.

Vikettes win dual at CPU; Tandy leads all golfers with 41

The Vikettes ended their dual season with a win at CPU. Senior Lauren Tandy led the V-S girls golf team to a dual victory at Center Point-Urbana on Tuesday. Cummings, Noren, Bohnsack medal in West Divisional; Vikings 2nd

The Vikings shot a 159 Monday at Rolling Acres Golf Course to place second at the WaMaC West Divisional. Williamsburg placed first carding a 154. Other scores were: 3rd Marion 169, 4th Benton 172, 5th Independence 173, 6th Clear Creek-Amana 178, 7th Center Point-Urbana 179, 8th South Tama 187. Spencer Touro of Benton Community won the medalist honor in a playoff against Isaac Knock of Williamsburg both coming in with a 37.

Senior Tandy wins Wamac West medal; Vikettes 2nd to Independence

Senior Lauren Tandy led all golfers as the V-S Vikettes hosted the Wamac West Divisional event at the Vinton Country Club. The Vikettes finished in 2nd place, 6 strokes behind Independence. Vikings win at Center Point

The Viking went to Center Point-Urbana Friday to play in a Varsity and JV dual. The Vikings were led by medalist Tyler Stueck who carded a 38 and by runner-up medalist Austin Bohnsack recording a 39. Grant Noren also turned in a 39 and the team score was finished with Bryce Shaw’s 41. Tanner Cummings and Mike DeLong both carded a 42. The Vikings posted a team score of 157 while Center Point-Urbana turned in a 170.

Vikettes finish 3rd at home Invitational

Vikette Seniors: Annika Schmidt, Lily Horst, Maci Griffith, Bristi Gerber and Amanda Dedrick. Benton Community won the Vikette Invitational girls track meet in Vinton on Tuesday evening. Vikings win at Amana Colonies

It was a beautiful day and the course looked great as the Vikings picked up a win against Clear Creek-Amana Monday shooting 170. Clear Creek Amana shot 195. Tyler Stueck won the card back against Grant Noren to be the medalist carding a 41, which gave Grant the runner-up medal. Mike DeLong shot 43 and Austin Bohnsack carded a 45. Bryce Shaw and David Bray both turned in a 48 for the Varsity.
