History was made Friday evening in Vinton, as the Vinton-Shellsburg Red Cedar Shooters held their first home contest. The trap shooting team coached by Brendan Knudtson competed against Mount Vernon.

The Vinton-Shellsburg 8th grade boys won the 8th Grade title at the Little Viking Invitational May 4, in Vinton. Center Point-Urbana took second. Chase Overton won the discus event and set a new school record of 140 feet, 9 inches.

Welcome to the 3rd week of points racing at the birthplace of the IMCA Modified. The show got a late start due to a passing shower late in the afternoon.

The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings won their home track meet, the Viking Invitational, by a large margin Thursday evening. V-S had 147.50 points, second place Marion, 113 and third place Benton Community, 76.

What is Pickleball? Pickleball, while easy for beginners, can also develop into an intense competition for high-level players. With a low net, a court smaller than a tennis court, and a no-volley zone, the pace of the game can escalate with four experienced players.

  The Vinton-Shellsburg girls soccer team, facing injuries to two goalies, lost Varsity 10-0, to Clear Creek Amana on Friday.

The Benton Community Lady Bobcats took first place by a big margin in Vinton, winning the Vikette Relays with 138 points. The host V-S girls were second with 92 team points.
