Vikettes win in another close sweep, 3-0 vs. Benton
The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes won another match of an area team, winning three close games.
The Vikettes beat Benton, 3-0, Thursday night in Van Horne.

This sweep followed a sweep of CPU, by similar scores.
Vikette volleyball team sweeps CPU with wins in close matches
The Vinton-Shellsburg varsity volleyball team swept Center Point-Urbana at Vinton Tuesday evening. The Vikettes won the first and third games of the match by the minimum two points, 26-24 and 25-23. They won the second game, 25-15.
The Vikettes travel to Van Horne on Thursday, where the freshmen, sophomore, junior varsity and varsity will all play matches against Benton Community.
Williams TD, late defensive stand give Vikings 26-21 win at S. Tama
Going up against the KCRG-TV Athlete of the Week -- quarterback Brandon Horbach -- the V-S Vikings traveled to South Tama High School on Friday, looking to rebound from their 21-7 opening loss to Benton Community.
Horbach had led his team to a 46-0 victory in their season opener. Against the Vikings, he also had a remarkable game, completing 28 of 40 passes for more than 300 yards and one touchdown pass.
Vikettes host volleyball tournament; West Delaware takes title
The West Delaware volleyball team won the Vikette tournament Saturday in Vinton, in the 8-team contest.

Vikings travel to South Tama tonight
The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings are looking to bounce back from the loss to Benton Community. They travel to South Tama tonight. South Tama began its season with a 46-0 shutout of Saydel.
Next Friday, Sept. 10, when the Vikings host Maquekota, they will honor the football team from 1960. Many of them will attend the game.
